Domesteq Service Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is a social enterprise. DOMESTEQ sources, places and trains domestic workers for household and businesses across Delhi and the NCR. Domesteq is the only placement company of its kind in India and we have offices in Delhi and Gurgaon. Operating in a completely unregulated sector, Domesteq has been successfully placing and training domestic workers in a professional and responsible manner for nearly 4 years. Set up in April 2007 originally to fill a need for domestic staff placement in the expat community, DOMESTEQ has grown to provide verified domestic workers for all nationalities and in all economic brackets; expat settling in services for individuals and for companies new to India and training for the illiterate worker in both a domestic and a corporate environment. DOMESTEQ’s two training centres (in Gurgaon and Delhi) provide soft-skills and practical training for domestic workers, office cleaners, peons and personal and official drivers. Our training curricula have been conceived and created in-house with the expertise of former domestic workers and in consultation with education professionals. Aimed at the illiterate worker and based on a multiple intelligence model, the courses are designed for the first time market entrant as well as for a worker with experience hoping to increase their skills and, by doing so, their employability. Using illustrations, role- play and relevant visuals easily recognisable to the participants, we emphasise the importance of understanding why a task should be executed in a particular way as well as illustrate how it should be done. Our class size is small, student/teacher ratio high and participation a necessary component. Across all verticals, our main mission has always been to provide workers that are skilled, verifiable and documented in a way that encourages accountability from the workers at the same time as ensuring they have dignity of labour and fair working practices in the workplace.
Domesteq is working hard to regulate the domestic worker industry and our goal is to be the market leader in training semi-literate and illiterate workers. By bringing skills and dignity to the illiterate work force across India we will be able to fill the urgent need for workers in the home as well as increase the value placed on these individuals and the role they play in ordinary Indian life. |
